Jason Matt was recently awarded the Tammy DeRouen Outstanding Service to the Bar Award by the Lafayette Bar Association. Jason was chosen for his service to the Lafayette Bar Association on projects such as his work on “Birdie with the Bar,” the association’s golf tournament fundraiser. Jason previously served as Chairman of the Committee for the tournament, which raises funds for various pro bono programs the association offers to the less fortunate in the community. During Jason’s time as Chairman, the fundraiser had record breaking years.
Jason volunteers many Friday mornings for “Counsel on Call,” a program that provides free legal advice to anyone with a legal question or concern. Additionally, Jason is always willing to volunteer when the association needs a helping hand. The award is given in honor of former Pro Bono Director of the Lafayette Bar Association, Ms. Tammy DeRouen, who recently passed away of cancer. Tammy was a wonderful person and friend, and Jason is truly humbled and proud to be selected as the first ever recipient of this award.
